Don’t sell your treasures at yard sale prices!

Let me help you get top dollar for your stuff, by listing it on eBay – the largest, most-visited online

auction site on the planet.  eBay auctions run for five, seven, or ten days; during that time, thousands of potential buyers can view your items.  Since eBay’s audience is international, your potential buyer pool is virtually limitless!  You can sell your items for many times what you’d get locally or regionally –

IF you have a great eBay listing.

That’s where I come in: I can take your saleable item(s), photograph them, research their value, and create a powerful, effective listing on eBay.  Since eBay provides a means for potential buyers to ask questions about a particular item, I can handle these communications.  Once your item sells, I can pack & ship the item to the buyer (domestic or overseas), and write you a check for the proceeds (less selling commission).

How does it work?

First, you determine what you’d like to sell:  You can either deliver to me at my home here in Valparaiso, or – in many instances – I’ll pick it up.  During my Grand Opening, I’m offering free pickup in Niceville/BWB/Valparaiso for items with a value of $50 or more.  I’ll provide you with a Consignment Agreement (which basically says I can keep the item(s) for 15 days while I try to sell them for you), and we’ll decide whether each item should be listed for a 5, 7 or 10 day auction.

I’ll photograph your items, research what comparable items have sold for previously (on eBay and elsewhere), and generate the listings.

If the items sell, I’ll collect payment from the buyer.  I primarily use eBay’s PayPal service; it allows buyers to pay by credit card online, but you can choose to also accept Cashier Checks/Money Orders for your items.  I don’t recommend accepting personal checks when selling on eBay – they simply take too long to receive & clear.

Finally, I’ll carefully pack & ship the items to the buyer.  All shipments include a Tracking/Confirmation number; the buyer has three days from their receipt of the merchandise to report any discrepancy or dissatisfaction.  At the end of those three days, I’ll cut you a check for the sale price – less my commission.  (Note that, on eBay, Shipping Charges are usually paid by the Buyer, and do not reduce your sales proceeds.)

Of course, if some of your items don’t sell, you’ll either want to come get them – or we can often re-list them at a discounted rate.

What does it cost?

Each Consignment Agreement requires a Listing Fee, which is non-refundable (whether your items sell or not).  The Listing Fee is $3.00 for the first item, and $1.00 for each additional item.  The Listing Fee is payable at the time I take possession of your items for listing.

There are also some optional selling fees:

10-day auction fee (eBay charges extra for a 10-day listing vs. a 5 or 7 day):  $1.00

Bold fee (eBay charges extra to put your item name in bold print):  $2.00

Reserve Price fee:  $3.00

A reserve price is the minimum amount you’re willing to take for an item.  Most items on eBay are listed without a reserve, and the Starting Price (which we’ll specify) determines the minimum bid.  Sometimes, however, high-value items can benefit from a Reserve Price; the bidders can’t see how much your reserve is – only whether the current bid has met your reserve.  This allows you to have a low Starting Price, without the fear of selling the item for far less than it’s worth.

This is my Commission Schedule:

Final Value

 Commission

Up to $300

30%

$301 - $750

$90.00, plus 25% of the amount over $300

$751 TO $10,000

$202.50, plus 10% of the amount over $750

OVER $10,000

Negotiated amount

For example, say you have a beautiful antique clock you want to sell.  We decide to list it for 7 days, with no reserve – but with a bold print title, with a starting bid of $49.99.  At the end of the auction, it goes for $450!  You would pay me $5.00 to list the item ($3 Listing Fee + $2 Bold Fee).  Once the buyer receives the clock, I’d mail you a check for $322.50.

That’s basically how it works!  If you have any questions, or would like to arrange to have your items listed, please give me a call:
